Secure Send

Secure Send lets you share passwords and other sensitive text through a link with an expiration time and a view limit. The secret is encrypted. You can require a passphrase, associate the send with a ticket, and revoke access before the link expires.

Availability and Access

Secure Send is available on Explorer, Operator, and Architect plans.

  • From a ticket: Open the ticket in Junto and select Secure send in the ticket toolbar. On smaller screens, look for the lock icon. The send is automatically associated with that ticket.
  • From Settings: Administrators and Owners can open Settings > Secure Send to manage sends across the organization or create a send without a ticket.

Technicians and Operators can view and revoke sends attributed to their own account. Managers, Administrators, and Owners can manage other users' sends within the organization. Managers open Secure send > History from a ticket; the organization-wide Settings page requires an Administrator or Owner role.

  1. Open Secure send from a ticket, or select Create Secure Send on the Settings page.
  2. Enter a Description and an Intended recipient. Use a description that identifies the purpose without including the secret itself.
  3. If you started from Settings, optionally search for a ticket by ID or summary and select a result. Leave the search blank to create a send without a ticket.
  4. Enter the sensitive text in Secret. Use the eye icon to show or hide it while entering it.
  5. Choose the expiration, view limit, and optional passphrase using the settings below.
  6. Select Create Secure Link.
  7. Copy the full Secure link before closing the dialog, then share it with the recipient.
SettingOptionsDefault
Expires1 hour, 24 hours, or 7 days24 hours
View limit1, 3, or 5 reveals1 view
Require a passphraseRecipient must enter a passphrase before revealing the secretOff

The expiration starts when you create the link. Access ends when the link expires, its view limit is reached, or you revoke it—whichever happens first.

Copy the link before closing

The link is shown only once and cannot be recovered from History. If you lose it, revoke the active send and create a new one.

The Intended recipient field is for tracking; it does not verify the viewer's identity or deliver the link automatically. Anyone with the complete link can reveal an active send unless a passphrase is required. Share the link only with the intended recipient. If you require a passphrase, give it to the recipient separately, such as by phone or text, rather than in the same message as the link.

What the Recipient Does

Recipients do not need a Junto account to open a Secure Send.

  1. Open the complete link. The page shows how many views remain.
  2. Enter the passphrase if prompted.
  3. Select Reveal Secret. Revealing the secret counts toward its view limit; simply opening the page does not.
  4. Use Copy to Clipboard or copy the displayed text before leaving the page.

With the default one-view limit, the secret cannot be revealed again after the first reveal. With a higher limit, additional reveals are available until the limit or expiration is reached. An incorrect passphrase does not consume a view.

Track and Revoke Sends

Open Secure send > History from a ticket to review its sends, or use Settings > Secure Send for the organization-wide list if you are an Administrator or Owner.

Search by description or recipient, and use the status filter to find the send. The list defaults to Active; choose All to include completed sends.

StatusMeaning
ActiveThe link has not expired, reached its view limit, or been revoked
ConsumedThe view limit has been reached
ExpiredThe expiration time has passed
RevokedSomeone manually revoked access

Each entry shows its description, intended recipient, creator, creation and expiration times, views used, and ticket association when present. Sends created through an agent or runbook may also show that source. Revoked entries show when access was revoked and by whom.

To end access to an active send, select Revoke access and confirm. The history record remains after revocation. Revoking a link cannot withdraw a secret that someone has already revealed or copied.

Troubleshooting

IssueWhat to check
Secure Send is missing from SettingsThe Settings entry requires an Administrator or Owner role. Other staff can use the ticket toolbar, subject to their plan and access.
An upgrade message appearsSecure Send requires an active paid plan. Ask your organization's Owner to check the subscription.
Create Secure Link is disabledFill in Description, Intended recipient, and Secret. Enter a passphrase if enabled. If you searched for a ticket, select a result or clear the search.
The link was lost after closing the dialogIt cannot be recovered. Revoke the active send and create a replacement.
Invalid Link or Corrupted linkCopy the complete original link, including everything after the # symbol if present. If it still fails, ask the sender for a replacement.
Incorrect passphraseConfirm the passphrase with the sender and try again. A wrong passphrase does not use a view.
Secret Unavailable or already viewedAsk the sender to check whether the send expired, was revoked, or reached its view limit. A replacement send is needed to share the secret again.
Too many attemptsWait a minute before trying again.
A send is missing from HistoryTry the All status filter and clear the search. Ticket History only shows sends associated with that ticket, and your role limits which sends you can see.
